Near sightedness, or myopia, is a refractive error in which distant objects appear blurry while near objects remain clear. It occurs when the eyeball is elongated or the cornea is too curved, causing incoming light to focus in front of the retina instead of directly on it. Myopia often begins in childhood, progresses during adolescence, and may stabilize in adulthood. Risk factors include genetics, prolonged near work (screens/books), poor lighting, and limited outdoor activity. Untreated myopia may lead to eye strain, headaches, and, in severe cases, complications like retinal detachment or glaucoma.
Homoeopathy views myopia as a constitutional and functional disturbance resulting from hereditary tendencies, eye strain, and systemic weaknesses affecting ocular muscles and accommodation. Treatment aims to improve optic nerve vitality, enhance muscular balance, reduce progression, and address associated symptoms like headaches, eye strain, dryness, or photophobia. Remedies are chosen based on the exact visual disturbance, general constitution, and associated complaints. Although structural refractive errors cannot always be reversed, homoeopathy may help in slowing progression, improving clarity, reducing strain, and enhancing ocular health in the long term.
Indicated for progressive myopia, blurred distance vision, and spasmodic accommodation with eye strain.
Suited to fast-growing children with weak bones, poor nutrition, and declining eyesight.
Perfect for students with eye fatigue, burning, redness, and worsening distant vision due to overuse.
Dull, pressing headache around the eyes, worsened by reading, with blurred far vision.
Drooping eyelids, heaviness, blurred distance vision, and fatigue of eye muscles.
Vision worsens gradually; patient feels anxious, hurried, and sensitive to light.
Near vision remains good but distant vision becomes cloudy after long periods of concentration.
Sensitivity to bright light with dilated pupils, throbbing temples, and difficulty focusing.
Weakness after mental exertion, blurred distant vision, and dull, sunken eyes.
Dry, gritty sensation in the eyes with weak distant vision and tendency to headaches.
Distant objects appear blurred or double; worsened by fatigue or poor lighting.
Helps nourish corneal tissues, improve circulation, and reduce progression in early stages.
Burning eyes, watering, and blurred distant vision especially in the evening.
Heat, burning, redness, and strained far vision with worsening after prolonged study.
Weakness of vision after chronic illness, blood loss, or exhaustion.
Difficulty seeing distant objects in dim light, frequent blinking, and eye dryness.
Floating spots, blurred far vision, and aching sensation around the eyes.
Vision worsens in warm rooms with watering eyes and intolerance to fatty foods.
Lid twitching, spasms, and blurred distant vision especially during stress.
Sharp, sensitive eyes with fatigue and difficulty focusing at long distances.
Eyes feel heavy, tired, and strained after short reading, worsening distant clarity.
Near sightedness is a common refractive disorder influenced by genetics, environment, and ocular muscle function. Homoeopathy offers a constitutional approach to improving eye muscle balance, reducing visual strain, and slowing progression of myopia. While glasses may still be required, patients often experience improved comfort, reduced headaches, and better visual stability with proper individualized homoeopathic treatment.
