Swollen glans (glans penis swelling) refers to localized enlargement, redness, and tenderness of the head of the penis. It may result from infection (balanitis), allergic irritation, frictional trauma, poor genital hygiene, sexually transmitted infections, fungal or bacterial overgrowth, autoimmune reactions, phimosis, dermatological conditions, or hypersensitivity to chemicals such as soaps, lubricants, condoms, and spermicides. Symptoms can include pain, itching, burning, foul discharge, difficulty retracting foreskin, painful urination, cracks, ulcers, or sexual discomfort. Chronic untreated swelling may lead to recurrent balanitis, phimosis, paraphimosis, or structural complications.
Homoeopathy treats swollen glans based on the origin of inflammation, discharge characteristics, sensations, hygiene state, trauma history, sexual habits, emotional triggers, and modalities (better/worse factors). Remedies are selected according to itching vs burning vs rawness, tendency to fissures, odor of discharge, color of redness, genital sensitivity, and aggravating factors like heat, moisture, sexual excitement, cycling, masturbation, or wet weather. The goal is to relieve redness and edema, combat infection, normalize local tissue response, and prevent recurrence.
Burning urination with scalding pain radiating to glans, constant urge to urinate but passes only drops. Swelling of glans extremely tender to even light touch. Worse from drinking small amounts of water, intercourse, and thinking about sexual matters. Relieves raw inflammation with marked vesical irritation.
Glans inflamed, edematous, and shiny with grayish-green or yellow discharge and offensive odor. Urine dribbling, burning, and itching day & night with aggravation from heat of bed. Moist tongue, excessive salivation, foul sweat. Indicated when swelling is accompanied by deep ulceration tendency.
Severe fissures, painful cracks around corona glandis, sticky honey-like discharge, glans sensitive to friction. Thickened skin, coexisting eczema or fungal groins. Slow healing tendency and aggravation from heat and bathing.
Rapid swelling with reddish-pink shiny surface, strong stinging pains, and soreness. Worse by warmth and touch, better by cold applications. Very useful in allergic reactions to latex condoms, lubricants, deodorants, or after intercourse.
Raw irritated glans with oversensitivity, burning after urination, erections painful and incomplete. Marked swelling after excessive sexual activity or alcohol. Irritable temperament and strong sexual thoughts aggravated by suppression.
Glans congested, purplish, swollen like filled with blood. Cannot tolerate tight underwear or friction. Swelling worse after sleep or heat of bed. Often associated with suppressed sexual desire, jealousy, and intense emotions.
Long-standing swelling, sensitivity to cold, slow healing tendency, white or milky discharge. Foreskin tight, hard to retract. Indicated in chronic balanitis and phimosis with pus pockets or recurrent infections.
Glans swollen with deep fissures and sharp splinter-like pains, bleeding on contact. Yellow offensive discharge and painful urination. Strong fear of disease, irritability, despair.
Moist swelling with white cheesy discharge, raw spots, and offensive smell. Better from cold washing, worse from heat and after intercourse. History of warts or HPV-like eruptions may be present.
Severe burning in glans after urination, patient screams or cries when urine passes. Swelling of glans from concentrated urine irritation. Crust formation around meatus.
Excoriation of glans from acrid discharge, strong odor, painful cracks. Worse from intercourse, soap, and warm washing. Suited to recurrent balanitis with ulceration tendency.
Swelling after first intercourse, repeated intercourse, or masturbation. Glans raw, burning, extremely sensitive to friction and pressure. Complaints often linked to suppressed anger, humiliation, or emotional hurt.
Glans highly vascular, bleeds easily, burning better with cold water, worse with warmth and touch. High sexual excitement and weakness after intercourse.
Dry cracked glans with fissures around meatus, burning on urination. Worse from winter weather and scratching. Thick adhesive discharge.
Swollen glans with extreme tenderness to slightest touch. Sharp pain especially during downward motion. White patches or crust developing on surface.
Red raw glans with intense itching, worse from heat of bed, bathing, sweat, or lack of hygiene. Frequent balanitis in warm climates. Patient often scratches until raw.
Soreness as if bruised, aggravated after sitting long, biking, or frictional contact. Avoids touch. Swelling reduces with rest and cold.
Swollen painful glans accompanied by high blood sugar, sweetish breath odor, recurrent balanitis unresponsive to hygiene. Reduces swelling and improves healing in diabetic patients.
Glans swollen with small burning vesicles that discharge sticky serum and form scabs. Pain severely aggravated at night and from warmth.
Cold, flabby swollen glans, weakness of sexual organs, low libido yet mental fixation on sexual performance. Swelling after repeated intercourse.
Swelling after contact with wet or unhygienic environment. Glans sensitive, tight foreskin, cracks appearing on corona. Better with warm washing and gentle movement.
Dry tight skin on glans, painful intercourse, swelling after emotional grief or suppressed sexuality. Better when alone, worse from sympathy.
Swollen glans can arise from infectious, allergic, mechanical, sexual, or metabolic causes. Homoeopathy offers targeted healing when selected according to specific discharge character, sensitivity, pain pattern, emotional connections, modalities, and triggering circumstances. Individualized remedy selection not only reduces swelling and inflammation but also normalizes the genital mucosa and prevents recurrence of balanitis or phimosis.
