Hairfall (Alopecia) refers to excessive loss of hair from the scalp or other parts of the body. Normally, shedding 50–100 hairs per day is physiological, but beyond that indicates pathology. The causes can be nutritional deficiency, hormonal imbalance (thyroid, PCOS), stress, anemia, infection, heredity, or autoimmune disorders.
Other contributing factors include improper diet, harsh chemical treatments, pollution, scalp infections, and emotional distress. The hair cycle is disturbed — follicles prematurely enter the resting (telogen) phase, leading to thinning or bald patches. Types of hair loss include Androgenetic Alopecia, Alopecia Areata, Telogen Effluvium, and Cicatricial Alopecia. Early diagnosis and holistic management are vital to prevent permanent follicular damage.
Homoeopathy views hairfall as a manifestation of internal imbalance — physical, hormonal, or emotional. Remedies are selected based on the underlying cause, the type of hair loss, and the individual’s constitution.
They act by regulating hormonal function, improving scalp circulation, nourishing hair roots, and reducing stress. Homoeopathy also helps in regrowth of lost hair by stimulating dormant follicles. Remedies are gentle, free from side effects, and provide long-lasting correction when complemented by a proper diet and lifestyle.
